Lakes Country Child Profiles

CHARLIE (Pequot Lakes) – is a cheerful 3rd grade boy that lives with his grandma.  Although they have a strong relationship, Charlie has little connection with his parents and siblings and that makes him sad.  He has a desire to learn and try new things and is interested in archery, playing sports and learning about history, especially the U.S. presidents.  Charlie also loves playing board games.  His grandma knows he needs an active male role model and someone who is a good listener and sports-oriented. (Enrolled 3/11)

CURTIS (Pequot Lakes) – dreams about a sports career in the NFL, but right now this 6th grader is sampling it all – football, baseball, wrestling and even dodge ball!  He lives with his mom and older sister and wants an active, older partner to share his love for sports.  Curtis also wants to go fishing and hunting.  Finding someone to help him with his gun safety course would be great!  Although he has lots of energy, he also likes movies, reading, and music.  Any sports enthusiast would enjoy getting to know this fun, talkative boy! (Enrolled 3/11)

AVERY (Pine River-Backus) – is a 7th grader who wants to be a PE teacher when she grows up.  She has been involved with youth basketball and softball.  Playing board games, bike riding, concerts, horses and swimming are also interests.  Avery has a calm and sensitive nature and loves being around animals.  She keeps busy with many school, church and community activities, but has no dad in her life.  An active woman or couple, preferably someone with horses and other animals, would be ideal for this young lady!  (Enrolled 3/10)

SAMANTHA (East Gull Lake/Nisswa) – is a 6th grader at Pequot Lakes Middle School. Her dad often works out of the area and with younger siblings, mom believes Sam doesn’t get the individual attention she needs and that she is starting to lack confidence in herself.  Sam is very active and enjoys all sports, especially hockey, and also music and art.  Her goal is playing college hockey and being picked for the Women’s Olympic team!  Sam would enjoy learning how to play tennis and how to canoe.  She also admits to a growing fascination for shoe shopping!  Perfect for the sports enthusiast and adventure-seeker!  (Enrolled 8/10)

OWEN (Pequot Lakes) – is a 6th grader and lives with his dad.  They are working hard on their relationship as a family and believe Owen would benefit from a match with a couple or perhaps a family with children. Owen has moved many times and consistency is the key for him right now.  He is a good student who enjoys science experiments and wants to one day become a fishing guide.  Owen lists a whole range of activities from fishing and knee boarding to playing with animals.  (Enrolled 3/11)

SADIE (Pine River) – is 13 years old and in 7th grade.  She had a good experience with her first Kinship Partner, but unfortunately it ended after one year.  Sadie needs a positive person to encourage and boost her self-esteem and give some assistance with her school work.  Sadie likes to go snow sledding, bake, play board games, do arts and crafts, and be around animals.  She also enjoys younger children.  An understanding woman or couple who could help Sadie gain self-confidence and offer her healthy and more active leisure activities would be a wonderful experience for her! (Re-enrolled 9/11)

BRADEN (Backus/ Pine River) – hopes it’s not too late to find another partner!  This young man is 14 years old and in the 9th grade.  He was matched before, but only for a short time.  He really needs a man to step up to the plate and engage him in a meaningful, consistent friendship.  Braden enjoys farm life, the animals, and machinery tinkering.  The family lives quite a distance from town so Braden would enjoy opportunities to socialize and become involved in more activities.  The chance to fish and learn more about hunting also sparks his interest! (Re-enrolled 10/11)
