Purses for Partners
Purses
for Partners, a luncheon and purse auction to benefit Kinship
Partners, was held on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at noon in the
beautiful new Lakeview Ballroom at Breezy Point Resort. Close
to 90 women attended the event and enjoyed three unique purse
raffles, a silent auction and spirited bidding on the live auction.
There were purses for gals of all ages. Each purse contained a
special extra surprise gift from an area business. This first
annual event raised almost $5200. We hope many of our Kinship
family and friends will want to join us for our Second Annual Purses
for Partners to be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009.
Taste
of the Lakes
The 20th Annual Taste of the Lakes will be held on
Friday,
November 21, 2008, at Breezy Point Resort and Conference Center.
Tickets for the event are $75 and may be purchased starting in
August 2008 by
contacting either Kinship Partners’ office.
Here’s how it works. About 20 chefs from the finest
restaurants and caterers in the Brainerd Lakes Area set up
buffet stations so participants can enjoy sampling the “best
of the best” from each of these establishments. There will
be a selection of appetizers, salads, entrees, desserts and
coffees. Wine and beer tasting will also be available during
the evening. Along with the delicious food, wine and beer,
many area artists donate pieces of their work for the art
auction. There are gift baskets on the silent auction
and a live auction of some very special gifts. Guests enjoy the food, wine
and beer tasting and enjoy the silent and live auctions. It’s a
“bid a little, eat a little, bid a little, eat a little”
kind of evening!
Last year over $55,000 was raised at the “Taste”. Every penny raised
goes to benefit the children’s programs of Kinship Partners.

Kinship Wellness Challenge
For years, Gary Walters
has worked to raise funds and awareness for Kinship Partners. He has
picked projects that created a few doubts he'd complete the task -
biking from Louisiana to Brainerd, walking the length of the state,
swimming across Mille Lacs Lake.
In 2007 Walters' newest challenge is to lose 100
pounds by the end of year. Please check out
Kinship Wellness Challenge to find out how you can
participate in this challenge.
Car Parking at the Crow Wing County Fair
The first week in August brings the Crow Wing County Fair. As has been our custom for a number of years, Kinship Partners will again be parking cars in the Larco Manufacturing lot across the street from the main gate of the fairgrounds. Our parking concession will be open Tuesday – Friday evenings. For a nominal fee, you will have a very convenient place to park and be able to support the work of Kinship Partners in the process. Come out and join us.
Other Events
Kinship Partners receives proceeds from other small events throughout the year. Among them are a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Knights of Columbus,
Second Thursday at Prairie Bay, and the Hoop Shoot at the Mid-Minnesota Builder’s Show.
