Letter from our Director

 In life we are provided very few situations in which we are rewarded by just walking into a room. Mentoring is one of those rare situations.  Our experience has shown time and time again that your presence – just being you – has a powerful, lifelong positive impact on a child.  A child’s life improves the moment you demonstrate a willingness to care.

Did you know that almost 3 out of every 10 families belong to a single-parent household in Crow Wing and southern Cass counties?  That leaves a lot of children, especially boys, without someone to look up to during those critical years when they are growing up to be men.  Today 36 of the 51 children on our waiting list are boys who live without the guidance of men in their lives.

 Mentoring is simple and the most successful relationships are built around common shared activities and interests.  We provide the support, structure and supervision needed to make sure everyone experiences a safe and positive relationship.  You only need to be yourself – a caring adult, willing to spend time with a child who needs a role model.

 At Kinship Partners we know, as our mentors can testify, that all it takes is a few hours each week to change a child’s world.  So if you’re still not convinced, how about getting a second opinion?  Chances are you know someone who is a current mentor (see the mentor list on the next page) give them a call and ask about their mentoring experience.
